Editing and Locked Cells on the AFS (Desktop)
What it is: A security mechanism that prevents accidental changes to certain cells on the Annual Financial Statements; authorised users can unlock these cells by logging in with a Draftworx password.
What it's for
Some cells on the AFS are locked to protect formulas and controlled content from being overwritten. When a correction or override is genuinely needed, a Senior, Manager, or Partner-level password can be entered to temporarily unlock those cells. This balances flexibility with quality control — most users work freely in the editable (dark blue) cells, while sensitive cells remain protected until an authorised person signs in.
How to do it
Unlock locked cells
- Attempt to edit the cell — you will see that locked cells cannot be changed without logging in.
- Select the Draftworx Icon (top of the screen).
- Choose Login.
- Enter the relevant password (Senior, Manager, or Partner level) and click OK.
- The locked cells are now editable for this session.
Important: Only the Partner of the firm can request Draftworx passwords. Contact support@draftworx.com to obtain or reset a password.
