Editing and Locked Cells on the AFS (Desktop)

What it is: A security mechanism that prevents accidental changes to certain cells on the Annual Financial Statements; authorised users can unlock these cells by logging in with a Draftworx password.

What it's for

Some cells on the AFS are locked to protect formulas and controlled content from being overwritten. When a correction or override is genuinely needed, a Senior, Manager, or Partner-level password can be entered to temporarily unlock those cells. This balances flexibility with quality control — most users work freely in the editable (dark blue) cells, while sensitive cells remain protected until an authorised person signs in.

How to do it

Unlock locked cells

  1. Attempt to edit the cell — you will see that locked cells cannot be changed without logging in.
  2. Select the Draftworx Icon (top of the screen).
  3. Choose Login.
  4. Enter the relevant password (Senior, Manager, or Partner level) and click OK.
  5. The locked cells are now editable for this session.

Important: Only the Partner of the firm can request Draftworx passwords. Contact support@draftworx.com to obtain or reset a password.
