Booking In a Delegated File (Desktop)

What it is: The process a team member follows to receive and open a client file that has been delegated to them by a manager or partner.

What it's for

Delegation allows a manager to send a subset of working papers from a master client file to a team member (e.g., a preparer or junior auditor). Booking in the delegation file imports it into the recipient's client list so they can work on the sections assigned to them — without seeing the rest of the file.

How to do it

  1. On the Client List screen, go to Delegation and select Book in Delegation.
  2. Browse to and select the delegation file (.dxo) that was sent to you.
  3. When prompted, select No to keep a copy of the delegation file (do not delete it).
  4. The delegated client file now appears on your Client List, marked with a down arrow (↓).
  5. Open the delegated file to begin working.
  6. Only the working papers that were delegated to you will be visible inside the file.
