Appearance
Preview Options (Desktop)
What it is: The set of ways to preview the Annual Financial Statements before printing or exporting, ranging from a full-document view to a live split-screen while editing.
What it's for
Before printing or sending the AFS to a client, the preparer needs to see exactly how the document will look — page breaks, footers, note layout, and formatting. Preview options let the user check the full document, a single sheet, or watch changes update in real time, without leaving the editing environment.
How to do it
Access preview options
- On the Annual Financial Statements, navigate to the Format tab.
- Choose one of the four preview modes:
Preview modes
| Mode | What it does |
|---|---|
| Financials | Opens a full-document preview of all AFS pages. Use the left navigation bar to jump to a specific sheet. Preview Settings are available here. |
| Sheet | Previews only the sheet currently on screen. |
| Live | Splits the screen — the right side shows the preview of the current page while you continue drafting on the left. |
| XBRL | Used when XBRL tagging is active; allows validation and export to XHTML format. |
Preview Settings indicator
- Settings marked in blue on the Preview Settings pane are global (apply firm-wide).
- Settings marked in orange apply to this client file only.
