Preview Options (Desktop)

What it is: The set of ways to preview the Annual Financial Statements before printing or exporting, ranging from a full-document view to a live split-screen while editing.

What it's for

Before printing or sending the AFS to a client, the preparer needs to see exactly how the document will look — page breaks, footers, note layout, and formatting. Preview options let the user check the full document, a single sheet, or watch changes update in real time, without leaving the editing environment.

How to do it

Access preview options

  1. On the Annual Financial Statements, navigate to the Format tab.
  2. Choose one of the four preview modes:

Preview modes

ModeWhat it does
FinancialsOpens a full-document preview of all AFS pages. Use the left navigation bar to jump to a specific sheet. Preview Settings are available here.

LiveSplits the screen — the right side shows the preview of the current page while you continue drafting on the left.
XBRLUsed when XBRL tagging is active; allows validation and export to XHTML format.

Preview Settings indicator

  • Settings marked in blue on the Preview Settings pane are global (apply firm-wide).
  • Settings marked in orange apply to this client file only.
