Auto-Saved Documents (Desktop)

What it is: A built-in safety net that automatically saves your working papers and financial statements at a regular interval, keeping the three most recent versions so you can recover work if something goes wrong.

What it's for

If Draftworx closes unexpectedly, or you make a change you want to undo, the Auto Save feature lets you go back to an earlier version of your documents without losing everything since the last manual save. You can also adjust how frequently the auto-save happens to suit your working style.

Important: Lead Schedules are not covered by auto-save. Any audit work that needs to be recoverable should be done on the Working Papers section, not on Lead Schedules.

How to do it

Restoring an auto-saved document (DX141)

  1. Open the client file and click the Draftworx icon (the main menu icon at the top-left).
  2. Select Auto Saved Documents.
  3. You will see a list of your documents, each showing up to three dated auto-save versions.
  4. Select the version you want to recover:
    • Choose Overwrite to replace the current version with the selected auto-save.
    • Choose Restore to bring back the auto-save as a separate copy, leaving the current version intact.
  5. Confirm by selecting Yes.
  6. Type the captcha that appears and click Override to complete the restore.

Changing the auto-save interval

  1. From the Client List screen, go to Settings and select the Other tab.
  2. Use the arrow buttons next to the AutoSave Interval field to increase or decrease the save frequency (default is every 15 minutes).
  3. Click OK, then Save to apply the change.
