Manually Adding an Entry on the Working Trial Balance (Desktop)

What it is: The ability to type a new account row directly into the Working Trial Balance after the initial trial balance import, without re-importing the entire file.

What it's for

After importing a trial balance, you may find that a required account is missing — for example, a small accrual account or a memo account that was not included in the source system export. Rather than updating and re-importing the spreadsheet, you can add the account directly on the Working Trial Balance and link it immediately.

How to do it

Adding a New Entry Manually

  1. On the Working Trial Balance, locate the orange data-entry row at the bottom of the list.
  2. Type the Account Number and Account Name for the new entry.
  3. Select the Arrow (>>) next to the row to assign a link number.
  4. In the link search panel, filter for the relevant link, optionally update the Disclosure Description, then select to apply the link.
  5. Press Enter to save the new entry.

Tip: Once created, the new entry can be included in a journal entry if an adjustment is needed. See Journal Entries (Desktop) for how to do this.
