Returning the Delegation File to the Master Client File (Desktop)

What it is: The process a manager uses to import the completed work from a clerk's delegation return file back into the master client file, re-enabling editing of those sections.

What it's for

After a clerk finishes and returns the delegation file, the manager imports it back into the master client file to merge the clerk's work. The delegated sections change from Read Only (grey) back to fully editable. The manager can also check the Client Summary at any time to see which delegations are still outstanding.

How to do it

Import the Returned Delegation

  1. Open the master client file (the one the delegation was created from).
  2. Go to Client Setup and select Delegation.
  3. Click Delegation Return.
  4. Browse to the delegation return file (.dxi) that the clerk sent back and click Open.
  5. When prompted, click No to keep a copy of the delegation file.
  6. The delegated working papers are merged back into the master file and are now editable again.

Check Outstanding Delegations

  1. Navigate to Client Summary.
  2. Any delegation files that have not yet been returned are listed here.
